At one point in time in her life, Shanita had given up on the idea of joining high school. While
we were discussing how to support a girl from the community, a friend of Shanita overheard us
and informed us her and how she would benefit from our initiative however small it might have
been. In that regard we requested her to get us in touch with her. Shanita shared her story with us
and we assured her we would stay in touch. At our next meeting her determination was clear.
From that moment on we have walked the journey together and the rest is history. Shanita was
one of first beneficiaries of our Flow with Dignity campaign. It’s now been three years and she
has never looked behind. Despite the challenges, Shanita hasn’t given up on her dream of
becoming a doctor. She’s a true testament of hope and the value of volunteerism. Today she’s an
advocate of girl child education and menstrual hygiene because she understands the value of
both.
