Born from the community we serve
Obuyisi bw'Omu Initiative was founded in Bwaise in 2023 by young people who had lived the challenges they now work to solve.
Meet our founder
“Creating change, no matter how small.”
Mbalire Moses was born in Kampala to unschooled parents and faced severe hardship. Lacking basics, walking long distances, and dealing with school fees, he still supported his sisters—who are now a nurse and a teacher.
Struggling with his circumstances, Moses turned to drugs. But reading how Brazilian footballers escaped the favelas inspired him to change his own life.
He became an advocate for equal opportunity and, with like-minded youth, founded Obuyisi bw'Omu Initiative to give back. Moses is passionate about creating change, no matter how small.

I have practical experience in creating email campaigns, managing audience data, and supporting content strategies for nonprofit work. I am particularly interested in helping organisations expand their online presence and connect more effectively with their communities.
Mohamad Fouad Arabi
Operations Manager
A board member, management consultant and philanthropist with experience across more than 12 countries, advising leaders on governance, business development and strategic partnerships, and championing youth empowerment and community impact.
Angela Chongo
Program Officer, W.A.S.H.
A programme management and MEAL professional with experience in public health, data management and community development, passionate about programmes that meet the needs of every individual, with a growing focus on sustainable water, sanitation and hygiene.
Dr. Zheng Li
Program Officer, Climate Resilience
A UK-based legal and policy researcher with a background in engineering and international environmental and energy law. Zheng supports our environmental education, climate clubs and community fruit-tree planting.
Irene Baena Garcia
Program Officer, Mental Health / Institutional Fundraiser
Committed to intersectional justice and community-led solutions to structural inequalities, Irene brings close to 20 years of experience in international regulatory affairs. She is currently studying African Studies in Basel.
