OBI Story Submission and Licence Agreement

By submitting your work on the Stories Competition, you agree to the following terms.

1. Original Work

I confirm that:

  • The story submitted is my original work.
  • It does not knowingly infringe on the copyright or intellectual property rights of another person.
  • If my story includes material created by someone else, I have obtained the necessary permission to use it.

2. Ownership

I understand that I remain the copyright owner of my story unless a separate written agreement states otherwise.

3. Licence Granted to OBI

I grant the Obuyisi bw’Omu Initiative (OBI) a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, perpetual licence to:

  • Publish my story in print and digital formats;
  • Create audio recordings and read-aloud versions;
  • Translate my story into other languages;
  • Adapt the story for educational purposes;
  • Illustrate, edit, and format the story while preserving its meaning;
  • Distribute the story through schools, libraries, community programmes, websites, mobile applications, social media, WhatsApp channels, and other educational platforms;
  • include the story in OBI books, literacy campaigns, educational resources, and fundraising initiatives that support OBI’s charitable mission.

4. Author Recognition

OBI will make reasonable efforts to acknowledge me as the author whenever my story is published or shared, unless I request to remain anonymous.

5. Educational Purpose

I understand that OBI is a literacy initiative and may use my story to promote reading, language development, and education in communities.

6. Permission for Children

If the author is under 18 years of age, this submission must be made with the consent of a parent or legal guardian.

7. Warranties

I understand that OBI may decline to publish my submission if it does not align with the organisation’s values, educational objectives, or content standards.
